A lot of backyards just sit there - unused, unfinished, kind of forgettable. This Platte City homeowner had open yard space and a clear vision: a solid outdoor area for grilling, relaxing, and eventually adding a shed. What they needed was something built to actually hold up, not just look good for a season.
We went with stamped concrete for both the patio and the connecting walkway. The stone pattern gives it real visual character without the maintenance headaches that come with natural stone. The color - a deep charcoal grey with variation throughout - fits the house perfectly and holds its own against the surrounding lawn.
The walkway is what ties the whole thing together. It runs from the patio, curves through the yard, and connects back to the house in a way that feels intentional. Nothing about this setup is an afterthought. Every edge is clean, every transition is smooth, and the whole layout just makes sense for how a family actually uses their backyard.
What we built here does more than look good on a Saturday afternoon. It gives the homeowner a grilling station that isn't sitting on bare dirt, a path that stays clean and dry between the house and the patio, and a foundation-ready surface when they're ready to drop a shed. That's real utility, not just curb appeal.
This is exactly the kind of work we love doing. It's functional, it's well-built, and it adds something lasting to the property. Stamped concrete done right holds up for years and requires very little from the homeowner down the road - that's a trade-off most people are more than happy to make.
