Overgrown bushes have a way of taking over a space without you really noticing - until one day you realize they're blocking your sightlines and eating up half your front yard. That's exactly what was happening here. A couple of shrubs had grown way past their welcome, crowding the beds and creating a blind spot near the driveway. Not a great look, and honestly a safety concern too.
We pulled those bushes out and cleaned everything up. What was left were the existing block retaining walls - nice curved beds that just needed some attention to really shine. The wall work was already solid, so this was about working with what was there and making it look intentional again.
Once the overgrowth was gone, we topped the beds off with a fresh rock finish. River rock across the beds gives a clean, natural look that doesn't require much upkeep at all. No mulch to replenish every season, no constant trimming around overgrown plants. Just a sharp, finished appearance that holds up.
Small landscaping changes like this do more than most people expect. Opening up that space improved the whole look of the front of the house - the retaining walls read cleaner, the remaining shrubs look properly sized, and the property just feels more put-together. It also opens up visibility from the driveway, which matters more than people realize until it's fixed.
