A failing retaining wall is one of those things that starts as an eyesore and slowly becomes a real problem. Once the structure starts to shift or crumble, it opens the door to soil erosion, drainage issues, and a front yard that just looks rough. That's exactly what we were dealing with here in Platte City.

We pulled out the old wall and put in a clean, stacked block retaining wall with a curved layout that follows the front entry. The blocks are laid tight and level, giving the wall the kind of structural integrity that'll hold up through freeze-thaw cycles and heavy rain without budging.

We also refreshed the landscape bed itself. The old rock was tired and dated, so we swapped it out for fresh stone that actually complements the home's exterior. The difference a rock update makes is bigger than most people expect - it pulls the whole front of the house together.

When retaining walls are done right, they do two jobs at once. They hold back the grade and protect the landscape around your foundation, and they add a finished, intentional look to the front of the home. This one does both.

A lot of homes around Platte City sit on sloped lots that need this kind of structural work to keep the yard looking sharp and functioning the way it should. If your wall is starting to lean, crack, or just looks like it's given up - it's worth addressing before it becomes a bigger fix.
