This backyard in gladstone had seen better days. No lush grass, no clean lawn to enjoy - just a space that wasn't living up to what it could be. The homeowner had a pool, a patio, a great fence, a solid outdoor setup. The yard itself just wasn't keeping up with the rest of it.
That's a pretty common situation. Everything around the lawn looks great, but the grass is the weak link. And honestly, it drags the whole space down. When you're outside by the pool or sitting on the patio, a rough, patchy lawn is hard to ignore.
Here's what we did - graded the area, spread fresh topsoil to build a solid foundation, and then laid new sod across the entire backyard. Start to finish, the whole job wrapped up in 6 hours. That's not a small area either. The sod runs fence line to fence line, right up to the pool deck edge on one side and the existing garden beds on the other.
The grading and topsoil step is where a lot of guys cut corners, and it's exactly why some sod installs don't take well. If the ground beneath isn't right, the roots struggle. We don't skip that part. Good prep work is what gives new sod the best possible shot at rooting in deep and growing thick.
What you end up with is a yard that finally matches everything else going on back there. Green, even, and ready to actually use. That's the goal every time we do a sod installation - leave it looking like it was always supposed to be there.
