Some backyards just don't work. The grade is off, there's no real surface to stand on, and the space ends up being wasted. That's exactly what we were dealing with here - a backyard that had potential but nothing to show for it.

We poured a full concrete slab under the covered patio area to give the family a solid, usable surface. No more dirt, no more wasted space. Just clean, flat concrete that actually works for everyday outdoor living. Then we built a block retaining wall to hold back the grade and create a defined raised bed area behind it. Drainage was part of the plan from the start - not an afterthought - so the wall is built to hold up long-term.

Next door, there was a gap in the existing patio slab that had been left unfinished. We filled it in with a new concrete section that ties right into what was already there. It's one of those details that seems small but makes a big difference in how the whole space functions and feels.

When you're dealing with sloped or awkward ground, the right combination of a concrete slab and a retaining wall can completely change how a yard performs. It's not just about looks - it's about giving people space they can actually use.

Whether it's one property or two neighbors splitting a job, we're always looking at the full picture. Good drainage, solid structure, and clean finished concrete are the baseline for us on every pour we do.
