This yard had a common problem - low spots that kept washing out every time it rained. Water was pooling, soil was moving, and the lawn just couldn't hold up. Before any seed hits the ground, that has to get fixed. So that's where we started.

We graded the whole area, filled the low spots, and brought in fresh topsoil to give the seed a solid base to work with. Getting the grade right matters more than most people realize. If the ground isn't moving water away from the house and shedding it evenly, you'll be dealing with the same erosion issues again next season.

We also added a small paver step at the bottom of the deck stairs. It's a simple detail, but it ties the whole transition together - from the deck down to the yard. Clean, functional, and a lot better than stepping off onto bare dirt.

Once the prep work was done, we spread seed across the entire area and covered it with straw to protect it while it establishes. The straw holds moisture, keeps the seed from washing away, and gives it the best shot at coming in thick and even. From here, it just needs time.

The groundwork is done right. That's what makes the difference between a lawn that fills in strong and one that struggles. We take the prep seriously so the finished product actually lasts.
